Is Smart phone war good for the Consumer?

Well, if you ask me the war between Android and Apple has really thrown in lot of surprises, especially for android, since it has a given a new dimension for looking at smart phones. Gone are the days when you called a phone that could send mail and chat as ‘smart phones’. Now, with evolution of technology and fight between two giants, we have seen how a smartphone really helps you make life simple. In other words, a smart phone now is really a smart phone!! So how does it benefit us? Well, for a start we can say we get more choices to opt from. Earlier it was Apple or Nokia, which are two extremes. One is a smartphone and the other claims itself to be a smartphone. Now, we have lots of options. We have Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG, Acer, Dell and many others. These production units give us really good smart phones with awesome features which we would have never imagined. Some features are dual core processor, HD recording, real time multi-tasking, etc. But the interesting fact is that Apple doesn’t have any of these features but still has its phones in top selling charts. Why ? Simple. It is the brand!! Apple has evolved with its brand. People buy Apple for its brand rather than its features. Anyways, I feel people who buy it don’t understand much of the technology around. Owning an iPhone makes people think that they have got the most sophisticated phone on the planet. But they should understand that it is not the case. What we eventually see is that, the war between these smart phones has brought out large choices which are cheap and affordable. No more is a smartphone priced in the price range of over 600 dollars. Rates have gone down as there is lots of competition and more choices. As a customer we have benefited and we will continue to as the war goes on!!!
